Introduction

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm excited to announce a new project I've started - mapping our wonderful suburb, Sector III, in Getafe! 🏙️🌳

As part of the global OpenStreetMap community, I've taken up the challenge to contribute to this collaborative mapping effort. OpenStreetMap allows us to create and maintain a free, editable, and detailed map of our surroundings, and it's amazing how our contributions can make a real difference!

So, what's this all about? 🤔

Why Map Sector III? 🗺️

Sector III is home to so many beautiful places, parks, streets, and landmarks. By mapping it on OpenStreetMap, we can create a comprehensive and accurate representation of our neighborhood.

Mapping everything mappable

In this project, let's go beyond the obvious and map everything that can be done! Don't overlook the seemingly small and unnecessary things, like waste baskets, benches, streetlights, and other amenities. While they may seem insignificant individually, they make the information truly powerful, especially for API-based applications.

I invite all of you to join me in this mapping endeavor! Whether you're a seasoned mapper or a total beginner, your input is valuable. Let's work together to put Sector III on the map!

To get started:

1. Create an account on OpenStreetMap (it's free!).
2. Use the "iD Editor" (https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit) to add and edit features like roads, buildings, parks, and more. The editor is user-friendly and comes with helpful tutorials.
3. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance. You can ask in OSM Madrid Telegram Group
